Discover the Spot

The name might suggest modesty, but the vision at Humble on Duke is anything but. This tiny fourteen-seat dining room in Sunshine Beach, located in what could be described as a small hole-in-the-wall spot, has built a significant reputation on vibrant flavours and personal hospitality. Run by partners Stacey Conner in the kitchen and Jade Tareha managing the floor, the restaurant feels less like a business and more like an invitation into a home where making people feel good is the priority. The intimate space, brightened by a bold, multi-coloured mural, creates a relaxed atmosphere that is entirely focused on the food and wine set before its handful of nightly guests. The kitchen's philosophy is rooted in Modern Australian cooking, with Conner weaving in pronounced influences from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, a reflection of her time working in Dubai. This results in a roster of dishes that is both familiar and exciting, always grounded in exceptional local and seasonal produce. The offering is elevated by creative spice combinations and techniques, with the selection evolving every six or seven weeks to showcase what is best on any given day. While the specifics are always changing, certain signatures have emerged, such as a memorably smoky baba ganoush scooped up with Turkish bread or potatoes crisped in wagyu fat, plates that encapsulate the restaurant's confident and generous culinary style. The dining format often leans towards a “feed me” shared course, a style that encourages a convivial occasion and places trust in the kitchen's choices for the evening. This is bolstered by service that is owner-led, warm, and infectious in its passion. Tareha’s enthusiasm guides diners through a thoughtfully curated list of Australian and New Zealand wines which changes monthly. Everything about this establishment, from its limited seating to its dynamic dishes, is geared towards creating a direct, memorable connection between the kitchen and the diner. The operation is founded on the simple idea of sharing good food and wine, executed with creativity and care.
